The Dilemma
- Paul in Acts 19:21, 20:22-23, appeals to the Holy Spirit in support of his decision to go to Jerusalem. Acts 20:16, 20:37-38, 21:12-13, all illustrate the depth of his resolve.
- Paul’s companions in Acts 21:4, “through the Spirit” tell him not to go, and in Acts 21:11 warn of what will take place. Act 21:12 shows their determination to stop him.
- Is God divided? Is the Holy Spirit conflicted? Does God send mixed messages? Does God test His people?
- The greater questions: Why would God’s people be tested? Why would God’s people suffer at all?
