The People of God

  • Aquila and Priscilla, Acts 18; Romans 16:3-4; 2 Timothy 4:19.
    • According to Suetonius, the emperor “banished from Rome all the Jews, who were continually making disturbances at the instigation of one Chrestus.”
  • Silas: Acts 18:5, 15:22-34, 15:40-41, 16:19-40; 2 Corinthians 1:19; 1 Thessalonians 1:1; 2 Thessalonians 1:1; 1 Peter 5:12.

The Provision of God

  • Paul supported himself. See also:  Acts  20:34; 1 Cor. 4:12; 9:15; 2 Cor. 11:7; 12:13; 1 Thess. 2:9; 2 Thess. 3:8.
  • “He who does not teach his son to work, teaches him to steal.” – Jewish proverb.

The Protection of God

  • Acts 18:9-10, “Do not be afraid…no one will attack you or harm you.”

The Presence of God

  • The greatest privilege of the Christian life and the greatest need in Gospel ministry is the abiding presence of God. This is the very definition of eternal life.
